We've always had a soft spot for London, and it's one of the busiest zones we run. Traffic there has been climbing lately, so we've added more capacity. This is the part I like most about the site. Netwise runs London East on 100% renewable energy, and they're specific about it: the power comes from wind, sun and sea, which is about as clean as hosting gets in the UK. The efficiency backs it up, with a design PUE of 1.10 and a real-world average near 1.17, so very little of the power going in ends up wasted as heat. It comes in on a dual, diverse grid feed with N+N UPS and N+1 diesel generators behind it, and there's enough fuel on site to ride out a long outage. Cooling runs refrigerant-free on an N+1 setup. That's the kind of resilience that keeps our uptime target honest.
Certifications and security
London East carries ISO 27001 for information security and ISO 9001 for quality. The physical layer is handled by 24/7 on-site staff, razor-topped perimeter fencing and layered PIN and RFID access, with HD CCTV kept for 90 days. It's a serious facility, the kind you want your production sitting in.
What LINX and LONAP peering bring
Here's where London really earns its reputation, and it's what drives the latency. Netwise London East sits on the major London exchanges. It peers at LINX, the London Internet Exchange, which connects over 850 networks and is one of the largest exchanges anywhere in the world. It's also on LONAP and the Equinix exchanges, with tier-1 carriers like Cogent, Zayo and BT in the mix.
